An adventurous itinerary on board La Dea II as she travels the world
With an adventurous itinerary that includes a world circumnavigation planned for the coming years La Dea II’s route has already taken her to the Galapagos Islands, where her guests were able to able to see incomparable wildlife in their natural surroundings. Now cruising in the heart of the Pacific, her travels will later take her through the Pacific Islands, including the Society Islands, Tahiti, Cook Islands, Fiji and Vanuatu, and on to Australia and Asia, including Myanmar and Indonesia. “The trip has already proved unforgettable with several highlights,” says Mark Hoskin, captain of La Dea II. “The Pacific is a fantastic place to be and although it is isolated in places the whole area is still very open and easy to get into. Asia is also so beautiful, with many wonderful untouched areas that are only just coming on to people’s radars.”
Careful planning by the owner and his team has ensured that La Dea II is fully set up to enjoy her travels. Her beautiful interior includes a full beam master stateroom and panoramic sky lounge and outdoor spaces include a generous sun deck, al fresco dining and a huge stern swim platform. Incredibly stable for a semi-displacement yacht, zero-speed stablisers mean she combines speed when underway with comfort when at rest, able to comfortably cover the passages between destinations.
Focus is firmly on guest enjoyment and the yacht carries two tenders and an abundance of toys, including sea kayaks, scooters and a powerful drone for creating memories of time on board. A new addition is a 9m custom tender, big enough to carry all the guests at once and fully set up for day trips with storage for diving and fishing equipment. “The tender is perfect for diving and exploring and allows access to the harder to reach shallow anchorages, atolls and reefs so that they can fully enjoy all of their surroundings,” says Hoskin.
Diving will be a key feature throughout the trip, with the allure of the underwater world a huge attraction for the owner and charterers alike. With Captain Hoskin a master dive instructor, having dived in all major dive spots in the world, guests will have an onboard expert to lead them on expeditions.
One of the yacht’s biggest assets is her crew and their local knowledge. “Our deck crew all hail from the Asia-Pacific with a strong on-water heritage in their upbringing and they really know the region,” says Hoskin, who himself is fluent in Thai having spent several seasons in Thailand. This unrivalled combined knowledge will prove invaluable when cruising these lesser-known destinations, with crew able to provide their local recommendations.
